Les Misérables

The recent production of Les Misérables was nothing short of spectacular, leaving audiences buzzing long after the final curtain. Directed by Beckie Mills, Director of Drama, the show embodied her “go big or go home” philosophy, delivering a complex, fully sung performance with dozens of scene and costume changes, challenging music, and show-stopping numbers executed flawlessly. Over 100 pupils were involved, including more than 60 in the cast, 40 Year 6 students, an orchestra of eight pupils alongside professionals, and a large backstage crew. The leads shone brilliantly, the ensemble was tight, and the choreography was immaculate, creating an unforgettable showcase of talent and dedication.

Beyond technical mastery, the production highlighted the joy of collaborative performance across eight different year groups. Friendships and camaraderie were evident on stage, especially during the final curtain call, demonstrating the unique power of the creative arts to unite young people. None of this would have been possible without the tireless work of staff, particularly Beckie Mills and Music Director, Kieran Hughes, who have been preparing since June, supported by colleagues and alumnae in every aspect - from staging and choreography to costumes, props, and technical effects. The result was a monumental, joyous celebration of skill, teamwork, and artistic excellence.
