Queen's Celebrates Legacy Bequest

Queen’s is honoured to announce the acceptance of a recent gift from the estate of Michaela Bergman (OQ 1980). While the Queen’s community is saddened by the loss of such an extraordinary individual, the College is privileged to be remembered in her estate. The generous bequest of £50,000 will significantly impact the creation of the Thrive Centre.

The Thrive Centre is located in the former Caretaker’s Flat on the Northeast corner of our Harley Street home and will add an additional 1,100 square feet to the College footprint. The space will be transformed into two areas: a mixed-use study & meeting room and student support focused zones. The student support area will be known as ‘Michaela’s Space’ in honour of the generous donation. Michaela’s Space will include a quiet sensory environment, a dedicated space for our student support staff and a relaxing zone away from the hustle and bustle of the College.

Queen’s supports our pupils throughout their learning journey and these spaces will enable even more personalised learning and pastoral environments. ‘The Thrive Centre and specifically Michaela’s Space will be a calm and reflective area for our pupils,’ says Principal Richard Tillett. ‘All pupils need a community to bolster their academic and personal development, and the Thrive Centre, thanks very much in part to Michaela, will provide much needed areas to build connections across the College.’

Queen’s is deeply grateful to benefit from the generosity of Old Queens like Michaela whose legacy will continue for generations to come.
